This is mostly to lighten the burden of my browser bookmarks. I’ll move up the stuff that i actually use to the top, the rest below the lines in each section are just projects i’ve stumbled across that might be interesting.

CLI

  • chcase - Ancient Perl script to fix filenames with regex (Original site defunct, mirror)
  • doxx - Expose the contents of .docx files without leaving your terminal. Fast, safe, and smart — no Office required!
  • detox - detox is a program that renames files to make them easier to work with under Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Spaces and various other unsafe characters (such as “$”) get replaced with “_“. The upper portion of ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1) can be transcoded to UTF-8, as can CP-1252.
  • fdupes - FDUPES is a program for identifying or deleting duplicate files residing within specified directories.
  • hping - A command-line oriented TCP/IP packet assembler/analyzer. yay -S hping
  • imap-backup - Backup and Migrate IMAP Email Accounts
  • termdown - Countdown timer and stopwatch in your terminal yay -S termdown

  • calcurse - calcurse is a calendar and scheduling application for the command line. It helps keep track of events, appointments and everyday tasks.
  • energygraph - Graphs the energy use of a host inside a text terminal, using intel-rapl data from the /sys filesystem.
  • f3 - f3 is a simple tool that tests flash cards capacity and performance to see if they live up to claimed specifications. It fills the device with pseudorandom data and then checks if it returns the same on reading.
  • fd - fd is a program to find entries in your filesystem. It is a simple, fast and user-friendly alternative to find. While it does not aim to support all of find’s powerful functionality, it provides sensible (opinionated) defaults for a majority of use cases.
  • go2rtc - Ultimate camera streaming application with support RTSP, RTMP, HTTP-FLV, WebRTC, MSE, HLS, MP4, MJPEG, HomeKit, FFmpeg, etc.
  • movie-thumbnailer-mtn - Movie Thumbnailer (mtn) saves thumbnails (screenshots) of movie or video files to jpeg files. It uses FFmpeg’s libavcodec as its engine, so it supports all popular codecs, e.g. h.265/hevc, h.264, mpeg1, mpeg2, mp4, vc1, wmv, xvid, divx
  • Queue4Download - Set of Scripts written by Chmura to automate push notification of completed torrent payloads for integration into a home media library while updating the torrent client on a remote server.
  • RecoverPy - Interactively find and recover deleted or 👉 overwritten 👈 files from your terminal
  • sc-im - Spreadsheet Calculator Improvised – An ncurses spreadsheet program for terminal
  • ShellCheck - ShellCheck, a static analysis tool for shell scripts
  • shUnit2 - shUnit2 is a xUnit based unit test framework for Bourne based shell scripts.
  • systeroid - A more powerful alternative to sysctl(8) with a terminal user interface
  • taskwarrior-tui - A Terminal User Interface (TUI) for Taskwarrior that you didn’t know you wanted
  • Timeshift - System restore tool for Linux. Creates filesystem snapshots using rsync+hardlinks, or BTRFS snapshots. Supports scheduled snapshots, multiple backup levels, and exclude filters. Snapshots can be restored while system is running or from Live CD/USB.

  • ddclient - ddclient is a Perl client used to update dynamic DNS entries for accounts on many dynamic DNS services. It uses curl for internet access.
  • dnsupdate - dnsupdate is a dynamic DNS client that has first-class support for IPv6 and aims to be easily configurable to meet the needs of any situation.
  • netdiscoverNetdiscover is a network address discovering tool, developed mainly for those wireless networks without dhcp server, it also works on hub/switched networks. Its based on arp packets, it will send arp requests and sniff for replies.

  • scantailor - Scan Tailor was an interactive post-processing tool for scanned pages that was started in 2007. It performs operations such as page splitting, deskewing, adding/removing borders, and others.
  • waypipe - Waypipe is a proxy for Wayland clients. It forwards Wayland messages and serializes changes to shared memory buffers over a single socket. This makes application forwarding similar to ssh -X feasible.

  • Nepenthes - This is a tarpit intended to catch web crawlers. Specifically, it’s targetting crawlers that scrape data for LLMs - but really, like the plants it is named after, it’ll eat just about anything that finds it’s way inside.
